Cleaners N16 Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Cleaners N16 in relation to our operations and supply chains. We recognise that modern slavery, forced labour and human trafficking are serious human rights abuses that can occur in any sector, including cleaning and facilities services. We are committed to preventing these abuses in every part of our business and expect the same high standards from all those with whom we work.
Our Zero-Tolerance Approach
Cleaners N16 maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. This means we will not knowingly engage with any organisation or individual involved in such practices and will take decisive action where concerns are identified. Our commitment applies to all employees, agency workers, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, regardless of location or size.
We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business relationships. We aim to create a working environment where exploitation is neither accepted nor ignored and where everyone understands their responsibility to speak up about potential risks or concerns.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Cleaners N16 provides professional cleaning services to residential and commercial customers. Our supply chains include providers of cleaning products and equipment, subcontracted labour, training and compliance services, and facilities-related support services. We recognise that parts of these supply chains, particularly those involving low-skilled or temporary labour, can be vulnerable to modern slavery risks.
We therefore work to identify and minimise these risks by choosing reputable suppliers, requiring clear standards of conduct, and maintaining oversight of the way services are delivered on our behalf.
Due Diligence and Supplier Audits
Cleaners N16 conducts due diligence on new suppliers and periodically on existing suppliers to assess and address the risk of modern slavery. This due diligence can include supplier questionnaires, requests for policies or statements, and verification of labour practices where relevant.
We reserve the right to audit suppliers, either directly or through a third party, to check compliance with our standards. Audits may review recruitment practices, employment contracts, working conditions, working hours, wage payments, and access to grievance mechanisms. Where non-compliance or areas of concern are identified, we will work with the supplier to agree on corrective actions within clear timeframes. If a supplier fails to address serious issues or shows unwillingness to improve, we may suspend or terminate the relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Cleaners N16 encourages all staff, agency workers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to report any concerns related to modern slavery or human trafficking. Concerns may relate to our own operations or to our supply chains. We are committed to ensuring that anyone who raises a concern in good faith will not suffer any form of retaliation or adverse treatment as a result.
Reports can be raised through internal management channels or through designated reporting routes made known to staff and key suppliers. We will investigate concerns promptly, treat information sensitively, and take appropriate action where issues are substantiated. Where necessary, we will cooperate with law enforcement or relevant authorities.
Training and Awareness
We aim to ensure that relevant members of our team understand the risks of modern slavery and the role they play in preventing it. This includes raising awareness at induction for new staff, providing guidance to managers and supervisors, and highlighting indicators of potential exploitation, such as excessive working hours, withholding of documents, or signs of coercion.
We also seek to engage with key suppliers so they understand our expectations and can cascade similar standards through their own operations and supply chains.
Monitoring, Accountability and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery sits with the senior management of Cleaners N16. They are accountable for ensuring that appropriate policies, procedures and controls are in place and that these remain effective over time.
This Modern Slavery Statement and our supporting procedures are reviewed at least annually and whenever there are significant changes to our business, supply chains or relevant legislation. As part of the review, we consider any incidents, audit findings, supplier performance, and feedback from staff or stakeholders. We use these insights to strengthen our controls, update training, and refine our risk assessments.
By publishing this Statement, Cleaners N16 reaffirms its commitment to acting ethically, promoting respect for human rights, and working continually to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains.
